| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 5, 2005 Bottled. Chocolate cake aroma with some espresso notes. Chocolatey, bitter and coffeish taste. Problem is the underlying wateriness and thinbodiedness. The water flavour was too prominent. Ends rather dry. The aroma was so promising, but the body lacked. It´s a shame. Still drinkable, though. flutetokill (515), Fresno, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2005 Nice dark brown color with a medium light brown head. Very rich bourbon, vanilla, caramel, nut, coffee and wood aroma. The flavor was more mild, with a little coffee and smoked wood. Semi-thin feel, with a slightly dry finish. loweredsixth (942), Fresno, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 23, 2005 Dark brown color...nearly opaque, with a generous light brown creamy head. The aroma was rich and complex...bourbon, wood, licorice, milk chocolate, prunes, vanilla, toffee, coffee. The flavor was very similar to the aroma...very sweet and rich. The feel was soft, not too thin...wet finish. Yummy! 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 12, 2005 Bottle pours black, quite opaque, medium frothy light brown head, with spotty lacing. Chocolate malt nose, seems slightly vinous. Some dark pitted fruits as well. Somewhat cardboard like up front, very minor, but detracting. Otherwise subtle chocolate malt, slightly vinous, with some dark pitted fruit and apple skin on the tongue. Body and mouthfeel are average, fairly medium. Light finish, slightly watery, with some chocolate malts and very minor dark pitted fruit. Not bad, but no Lion Stout.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 11, 2005 Truly black liquid. Small cover of light brown bubbles. Yes, this does smell like a foreign stout. Stewed prunes and light alcohol. Hints of roasted malt and bourbon vanilla in the background. Light airy feel. Higher alcohols hit the flavor road running leaving burning rubber on the tongue, no really, my tongue is aflame. Flavors of mild tar, hints of bourbon and dark cherries. Seems to be quite true to style. A little rough but no problem, mon. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA

Has some almost fruity characteristics hiding underneath the roasty, oily flavors going on. Thick and rich strong roasty aftertaste. Alcohol is well hidden. But does hit you quickly. madsberg (4966), Søborg, Denmark
