Reddish-brown. Nose malty, somewhat sweet, caramel and a bit of peat. Flavor again malty and sweet caramel, bit biscuity and bready. Not offensive, but tastes like an amber-aled version of a brown, where it was sweetened up a bit in order to try to appeal to more people.

In the bottle. Dark amber to slightly brown in color with a yellow head. Subtle malty caramel aroma. Burnt toasted palate. This beer is fizzy with a bite. Good bitterness. Body is a little watery.

The word "Burly" in the beer’s title gives the potential drinker the misconception this will be an over the top brown ale. It’s not over the top, however, Burly Brown Ale is an adequate ale, perfect session beer.

Clear dark brown body with a thin soapy beige head. Smells like grape juice, the sharp part of molasses, and crusty wheat bread. Lacking in flavor and mouthfeel. Dry aromatic malt , bready finish. Quite the letdown after the interesting aroma.

As its name implies, this beer is brown. Luxurious off-white head with similar lacing. Aroma is slight, rather hoppy with some caffe mocha to it. Flavor is extreme butterscotch with more hops than the commercial description would imply. Finish is more chocalatey with a touch of red vermouth. An okay beer, goes down smooth.

A rich mahogany color with small white head. Roasted notes, molasses, and nut aromas. Med weight with a sweet mid palate that dry’s and lingers on the finish. Nice roasted flavors with a nut quality and pleasant hops. Not bad at all, might have another!

A decent and servicable brown ale from the frozen north. It has a clean hop finish and a nut like overtone, good but not great

Bottle pours a rather deep amber color with some residual lace. The aroma is of malt, nuts, and some floral hops. The flavor shows some decent Brown Ale characteristics, a bit nutty, some roasted malt, and some lingering bitter hop flavors with a medium rich body. Overall, not a bad effort.
