The nose is of oranges, yeast, malt, and hints of hops. The flavor is of oranges, yeast, caramel, malt, aroma hops, and slight touches of bitter hops giving it a dry end. Surprisingly yeasty. argo0 (6998), Washington DC, USA

Re-rate from 12oz bottle. Poured a medium amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of grain, and caramel. Tastes of caramel, grain and some hops. Thin body. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 13, 2006 The aroma’s a bit faint, sweet malt with a bit of graininess to it. Smooth and tasting of sweet caramel, dark toffee, and a light earthy/nutty bitterness, this amber/copper beer is a satisfying if unexciting drink.

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jul 4, 2007 12 ounce bottle from the Woodmans on Gammon Road, Madison WI (December 2006), served out of the fridge into a Unibroue glass. The big fluffy off-white head is huge-bubbled and fades very quickly atop the very clear dark amber body....excessively sweet, honey’d syrupy peaches batter you in the nose with very faint citric acidic notes showing up to no avail..... the body is awfully, awfully sweet as well, loads of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla which might be fun in a barley wine, but here they are not supported by enough of a malt base and there is virtually no hop presence....slick and syrupy all the way through; I suspect this was better before Point took it over. In any case, I find it barely drinkable now. bhensonb (4374), Woodland, California, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Bottle. Sort of a bland, not very sweet caramel aroma. Nice amber color with no head at all. Near medium body with very little carbonation. Sort of a bland not very sweet caramel with hints of hop. Decent enough, but not anything to get excited about. I suspect the bottle is atypical in that it lacks carbonation, but I don’t think more fizz would change my feeling. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 17, 2006 Medium orange colored body with a thick white head. The aroma is potatoes with some green bell peppers and a hin of caramel. The taste is light caramel with some light carrots. A nice subtle vienna lager. This could be a good session beer.
