Weak aroma of wheat. Kind of a wheat and malt taste, but some spice and hops that aren’t in a typical wheat. I stick by my original comment: strange... JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 25, 2003 Slightly cloudy. Aroma of a hefe weizen, and one of the few beers where I can actually find banana in the aroma. Flavor of a mild hefeweizen. Thin. ok. Nuffield (2728), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 11, 2003 A hefe profile came through for me, with the clove aroma having something like artificial watermelon candy as well. Mostly clear, just a bit of haze in the dirty yellow color. This was disappointing flat in appearance and palate, with only the fact that I was eating some rather salty rice pilaf able to compensate by stimulating a nice secondary fizz in my mouth. As it warms it ends somewhat limp in the mouth. Acceptable, but with much disappointment. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 19, 2004 (12 oz bottle) Very mild wheat flavor, somewhat sweet and spicy like a Belgian with a subtle pale maltiness lurking in the background; Bubblegum finish; The spicy, light bubblegum nose has a Belgian character to it, but the nose is also a bit on the sweet side; Light bodied with a modest zip on the palate, but generally not all that exciting; Hazy pale yellow with a very small head on the pour, and absolutely no head within maybe 15 seconds; Only a handful of carbonation bubbles slowly rise toward the surface; No lacing; Different type of American summer brew, almost a Belgian Light beer, and while not great, it's decent enough and I appreciate that it's not just a boring light wheat beer like most American summer beers robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 17, 2004 Thirsty, I reached blindly into the fridge, grabbed a bottle, popped the top, and poured it into a pint glass, giving little thought to what it was, but thinking it was a hefe weizen. As I finished it, I mused that it must've been a mighty weak weizen, with little hefe and scant wheat texture...then I noticed the bottle, and read the label...partial wheat malts...not far off the mark...interesting...
So, the beer...appearance:slightly hazy, orange/amber color, short, disappearing head.
Aroma:very sweet and fruity, sugary, a distinctive character, with orange chief at first, and banana gaining prominence later on. I kept my nose in this one for a while, very nice.
On the palate, though, the sugary sweetness goes a bit too far, and comes close to cloying. Extraordinarily light in every respect, and an ideal summer slammer. Banana/clove aspects peep up, but never fully form...it's like a half-born hefe weizen. Lacking quite a bit, but neither does it pretend to much, either. A nice little summer ale.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 3, 2003 Cloudy straw color, nice aroma of wheat, spice and yeast with a slight citrus side to it.The taste was very nice, wheaty with a good spice content along with a nice mellow citrus that didn't get to out of hand like on some others i've had.The after taste was much the same as the taste with a little more note on the hops and spice coming through.I have to agree with Nuffield that as it warmed it got a little rough to drink. This might be a set back but as far as i'm concerned i prefer this one ice cold for a good experience. The brew is all in all good and worth trying. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
