As I finished it, I mused that it must've been a mighty weak weizen, with little hefe and scant wheat texture...then I noticed the bottle, and read the label...partial wheat malts...not far off the mark...interesting...
So, the beer...appearance:slightly hazy, orange/amber color, short, disappearing head.
Aroma:very sweet and fruity, sugary, a distinctive character, with orange chief at first, and banana gaining prominence later on. I kept my nose in this one for a while, very nice.
On the palate, though, the sugary sweetness goes a bit too far, and comes close to cloying. Extraordinarily light in every respect, and an ideal summer slammer. Banana/clove aspects peep up, but never fully form...it's like a half-born hefe weizen. Lacking quite a bit, but neither does it pretend to much, either. A nice little summer ale.

Weak aroma of wheat. Kind of a wheat and malt taste, but some spice and hops that aren’t in a typical wheat. I stick by my original comment: strange... heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 5, 2006 Friend of mine had this one in his fridge. Pours amber with thick white head. Aroma of wheat, light hops and malt with some kind of additional spice. Flavor is quite mild with no one ingredient stealing the show. Interesting, but not bad... even in winter. greystreet80 (191), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 19, 2002 A decent summer ale, not too strong. It is spicy and fruity; like the description says. Make sure it stays cold though, otherwise it gets a little nasty. Good when drank outside on a nice warm day. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 11, 2003 A hefe profile came through for me, with the clove aroma having something like artificial watermelon candy as well. Mostly clear, just a bit of haze in the dirty yellow color. This was disappointing flat in appearance and palate, with only the fact that I was eating some rather salty rice pilaf able to compensate by stimulating a nice secondary fizz in my mouth. As it warms it ends somewhat limp in the mouth. Acceptable, but with much disappointment.
