Deep dark golden color, with quickly desapearing head. Aroma weak and hoppy. I am not an IPA fan however this was a mild IPA and a good one at that. Taste is a flowery metal taste that has a lingering bitter aftertaste at first but as you drink it it becomes very mild. It is however not too bitter/hoppy like most IPA’s. It is done very well and although not my style not a bad beer at all above average and the first IPA in ever enjoyed.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Copper, small white head. Dry hoppy aroma, but not all that much there. More floral hops upon tasting, finishes with a dull bitter kick. Toasted malt middle perhaps overbalances things towards the sweet side. Heavy enough on the palate. Not all that sophisticated or wild, but fine. Davros (236), Australia

Definitely English aroma, with great caramel malt and some toffee as well. Not too much in the way of hop aroma, there’s just a hint of earthy and resinous notes.
Similar flavours (caramel), but here is where the hops come into play with some grassy resin and earthy notes, finishing with a prominent sharp bitterness.
Carbonation is on the high side.
Need more aroma/flavouring hop additions, rather than just bittering. Dervock (181), Emu plains, Australia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 11, 2009 Bottle - pours copper with a large off white head. Big flowery hop aroma, almost perfumey. flowery hop flavour undercut by an almost out of place roast malt (burnt) flavour, spicy big dry finish. BeerChaser0078 (348), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours light amber with a little white head that quickly vanishes. Aroma is fairly hoppy with a bit of a soapy undertone. Flavour is dominated by the malts with a slight roasty/burnt character. Not bad really, just not one of the best IPAs being made in Australia at the moment. davidm (168), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 25, 2009 Bottle 345ml. Nice aromas of toasted malt and some herbs. Clear body, amber colour, with very thin head. Sweet entry, with lasting bitter finish. Lively carbonation and medium to full body. Tasty IPA, only the lack of head makes it lose a few points. alepig666 (78), Adelaide, Australia
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours transparent dark amber, small thin white head which lasts quite a while. Aroma of strong hops, with a sweet flower bouquet scent, quite disconcerting since I experienced that with their Golden Ale and I couldn’t stand that one. Taste of sweet malts mostly, the floral smell comes through quite strong on the swallow, with a bittersweet finish. Nice alcohol kick too! Thankfully the sweetness isn’t overbearing, blends in well with the caramel malt taste, much the opposite of their Golden ale, hence I like it much more. Not usually my sort of thing, but it’s done very well, and more than worthy of a try. Great if you’re in the mood. mkel07 (526), Brisbane, Australia
