I note that I had a cold when I visited and could not get a great sample of the aroma of the beers that I sampled. Very black color with almost no aroma (see above). Very bland for a stout. Earlier Rating: 9/23/2007 Total Score: 3 Part of a sampler at the restaurant. I note that I had a cold when I visited and could not get a great sample of the aroma of the beers that I sampled. Opaque black pour with a thick, light brown head, lots of soy sauce and chocolate in the nose, followed up with bitter coffee, cherries and more soy sauce. Very strong finish. Good stout. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 11, 2007 Served with nitrogen. Black pour with ruby highlights and a medium creamy light brown head. Weak aroma of roasted malt. Mild flavor of roasted malt and chocolate. The body is light with a creamy texture provided mostly by the nitrogen and soft carbonation. hezron (602), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 6, 2005 Toasted barley aroma but not super complex aroma. Chocolate and roasty barley and oats in the flavor. The coffee roastiness grows as you drink. Though the temp is a little cold it is still really flavorful. Dark black with a diminishing off-white head and good lacing. Medium to thin body, good dry finish. darkerdabetter (255), Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 30, 2005 Very creamy and delicious. Large nose of chocolate and roasted goodness, with a teriffic dry finish. This was my favorite at the brew pub. Tmoney99 (4743), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2005 Draft at brew pub. Dark coffee color with medium creamy tan head. Aroma is muted like a irish stout with roasted malt and sweet tone. The flavor was the same with a medium body and medium finish. Good version of a dry stout BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2003 Medium brown hue with red streaks that produced a thick creamy head and very good lace. The aroma had major coffee, bittersweet chocolate, molasses, smoky, fruity hops, and hayfield. Dry and bitter taste initially with a nice developed sweet balance. Smoky and dry finish with a touch of spice and orange. Medium-bodied with a smooth and lively mouthfeel. A pretty darn nice stout, surprising a worth a taste if in northwest Michigan.
