May 15, 2009 On tap at the brewery. Being so close to the cherry trees of Michigan, I was looking forward to this. But I’m pretty sure they got this syrup shipped in. Red black color with a soapy head. Strong cherry aromas that are too much machino cherry. Artificial cherry flavors that are syruppy and begin to remind me a little of cough syrup. Oh and that just gets worse, change that little into a lot. The syrup just kills it.

Jul 13, 2007 On tap. Pours dark brown with some ruby highlights. No head. Aroma is cherry and chocolate. Flavor is sweet cherry, almost artificial, some dark chocolate. Palate is medium bodied, mildly carbonated, finished sweet and tangy. Again nothing special.

Sep 25, 2005 Draft at Jamesport. Dark reddish/brown color with a small off-white head. Moderate cherry and chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Moderate cherry, chocolate malt flavor with a medium tart bitter finish.

Sep 11, 2002 Definitely a battleground beer as some remarkable bitters - hard, edgy, graveyard herbal tones - take on the decent cherry essence. Red battles black in the color, too. Interesting.
