Pours a clear coppery brown color with a thick, rocky, white head. The aroma is all about floral, citrusy hops up front with some malty and fruity elements. The flavor has a good dose of citrusy hops with a pleasant, slightlly biscuity malt and some fruityness. The body is light with a pleasant, smooth texture and moderate carbonation. While not being as captivating as the IV Saison, this dark saison is quite good.

Bottled. Brown color. Plums and licorice in the aroma. Medium to full bodied. Toffee, milk chocolate and licorice in the malty flavor. Plums. Fairly long finish. Not bad.

2009-11-27. Hazy amber body with modest white head and lace. 3+ Lovely aroma! Citrus melange (clementines, grapefruit, other) and light malts. Flavour is a lightly muted version of the aroma. Bitter citrus hops up front is briefly astringent, moderate bitterness throughout, mild malt. 7+ Average palate is just a touch lighter than my preference. Very nice. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry.

[2607-20091127] 750mL bottle. Lovely rough citrus aroma. Hazy, dark orange brown body with a long-lasting foamy white head. Rich rough citrus flavour, bold. Medium-full body. Simple, strong, and tasty.

Bottled at pre-Zythos bash, Alvinne, March 2009 (thanks due to JoeinUccle I think for sharing). Cloudy amber colour. Nice tart citrus bite. Some distinct aromatic, floral US hop character. I was looking forward to trying a new beer from this quite young but very accomplished brewery and I was not disappointed. Really tasty if hardly a traditional saison.

On tap at 3rd Brugs BF. Hazy dark amber colour, dense yellow/orange head. Aroma of grapefruit, mango, light laurel, blood oranges. Flavour is very fruity, as above, some laurel, caramel, grapefruit bitter finish. Medium bodied. Nice.

750ml bottle (Kaisla, Helsinki, Big bottle weeks)
Deep hazy orange, small frothy head. Huge, quite pungent hoppy aroma. Soft carbonation. Some sweet caramel aroma too. Palate a bit sacchariney, and bitter. Plenty of roasted malt, and very raw hops. A touch of alcohol occasionally. Some grapefruity bitterness, and other sweet citrus tones. Finish has some sherbetty citrus. Saccharine comes through more latter, coats the mouth a bit. I think they tried a bit hard wit this one.

Veiled amber covered by a large, healthy foam loaded with Belgian lacing. Bright lemon zest hops are brought to our attention together with perfumey/flowery aspects and a rye-like spiciness. In mouth, the pils malts make up a crisp mouthfeel, delivering plenty of freshness as vigorous carbonation cleanses the palate between the sips. Ginger and lime seem to conclude the show. Brightness all over the place. A true performer this beer as my expectations were far inferior to the regular Saison. The yeast shows authentic Belgian character, high, fitting attenuation (dry and almost nutty), a fitting mineral palate and a remarkably bright hop profile considering its origins.
