whaleman (2168), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 29, 2005 Excuse me bartender, I asked for the porter. This beer has a clear amber-brown body with a filmy off-white head. Lighter than any porter I’ve ever had. The aroma and flavor are of caramel with a minor chocolate element. Has a spicy/earthy hop character. Not a bad beer, but WAY off style. Now can someone please explain to me why that jackass across the bar just squeezed a lime into his IPA?
Terminus (1955), Illinois, USA Jan 21, 2005 Pours a deep brown hue with weak carbonation and little head retention. no lacing and looks thin. grainy, musty, slight chocolate aroma that wasnt that good. Lots of roasty flavors with a touch of diacytl that was not detracting, but present. Slight coffee twang, but not very present due to little roast malt. flimsy palate and burnt finish. This was a unique porter, but not in a good way. aceofhearts (1373), San Francisco, California, USA Jun 23, 2002 Flat when I got it too, it travelled across Texas in a growler and was in a refrigerator for a couple of weeks, so I bumped it up a little to compensate. Actually quite drinkable despite the condition. Sweet, well-balanced, pretty nice. I’ll be sure to try one fresh if in El Pase anytime soon. Andrew196 (1089), Anaheim Hills, California, USA Jun 23, 2002 This beer was a little flat when I got it....color of coca cola....it had a great flavor regardless of its lack of freshness....if you add a little bit of crispness it would have been a very well done porter.
