pivnizub (3871), Porúří, Germany Aug 10, 2008 Bottle: Clear, amber coloured, smaller, quickly diminishing off-white fluffy head; unmalted barley and a tinge of roasted malt in the nose; light sweet-bitter-sourish flavour; some traces of caramel and cacao and dark malt in the faint bitter-sweet finish. Žádná sláva...... omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 22, 2007 Bottled at Mosebacke, Stockholm (as Jezek Dark Lager). Clear dark brown, minimal head. Sweet and medium bodied. Lightly roasty with some saccharine. Very low hop rate, no bitterness. Some light salt finishes it off. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Dec 9, 2005 Bottle at GBBF, August 2005. Dark russet colour, with a garnet tinge. Plenty of bready malt in the aroma. More fruity malt on the palate, leading to a dry finish. Low hop profile and not much bitterness. Consequently the overall feel is rather soft and it has a fairly light mouthfeel. The preamble is promising, but it fails to develop from there. Doesn’t really have a hook line. Decent but short of excitement.
tiggmtl (4178), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 14, 2005 Plums, pastry dough and fresh bread in the welcoming aroma. Clear chestnut brown with rapidly and fully diminishing head. Bready malts, pastry dough yeast character, plum-like fruitiness and mild nuttiness with a moderate roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body is quite dry and suffers from very low carbonation. A shame really - the flavours and aromas promise a great deal but the lack of carbonation really knocks this one down quite a bit. Bottle sampled at GBBF 2005. kook (2035), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Aug 26, 2005 Bottle (GBBF): Dark brown with no head. Huge malt nose. Wonderful toffee and choc. Sweetish bland choc malts with some subtle toffee notes in flav. Medium bodied, a touch watery in the finish, but a nice beer.
