Ober (276), Best, Netherlands Jul 1, 2008 It’s clear amber colored beer, with a beige foamy head. Th aroma is malty sweet of caramel and fruity. The taste is fruity from pine, a little bitter and some honey. It has a long light bitter aftertaste.
Not bad at alll.
bhensonb (2832), Woodland, California, USA Aug 16, 2008 750 ml bottle, corked and caged, from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Nice reddish copper color with a huge beige head. Aromas of caramel hop and mild spicey hop. Medium body with loosely creamy carbonation. Flavor is definitely mild caramel, with really laidback hop. Suggests berries in the background. Far background. Agree that it resembles an ESB, but probably needs more florality. Except for the absence of smoke, it reminds of Adelscott. I think there is a baseline of French ales that has the smooth, mild maltiness of an ESB, but varies the flavors from floral hop. Finish is very pleasing. Perhaps the hop is a spicy noble? Gary__ (72), London, Greater London, England Aug 16, 2008 Updated: Aug 18, 2008Its french and in a corked bottle-yet this is nothing like other Biere de gardes -ive sampled . So "bonjour" : This darker Biere de garde -’Ambree’ stuff it sinkable -a bit mellow and yet decent. : Jenlain Ambree aint dismilar to an English ESB -but one with heaps more booze . It feels kinda empty and hollow though. It is not soulless beer . I found creamy caramel flavours. Is that ceral ? and sweet its heavy on the maltiness. Could use some cutting dryness . Borresteijn (427), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 6, 2008 On tap @ De Geuzen. Amber coloured beer, white head. Aroma of malts, caramel. Taste is very sweet, very malty, caramel. I’m not into amber beers and this one doesn’t change that. Way too malty and sweet for me.
