TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany Nov 7, 2009 Bottle. The smell of bread, light sweet aroma of cherry drops, fruity. The head is medium large, nice creamy and dark white with a short duration. The body is red and clear. The taste is sweet, light alcoholic finish. The body is light and creamy with a lively carbonation. sound67 (157), Offenbach, Germany Oct 27, 2009 75cl corked bottle, as shown. Medium, soapy off-white head that collapses quickly. Good retention. Clear, deep amber colour. Caramelized apple and yeast on the nose. Medium to heavy-bodied, thick, creamy mouth feel. Taste, again, is of caramelized apple - with roasted malt to balance the sweet notes. Some sweetish herbs, too. Dry, bitter finish and medium bitter, slightly alcoholic after taste. This is a quietly impressive French "ale" that reveals its subtler notes only after a while. Increasingly complex and heavy as you keep drinking. Quite sessionable, given the unobtrusive bitter notes, but definitely not bland. Nice biere de garde. tarheels86 (703), Washington DC, USA Oct 21, 2009 On tap at Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown. Into a tulip, this pours a clear, reddish amber with a thin, bright white cap. Aroma is apple cider vinegar, caramel candies, maraschino cherries. Taste is big caramel apple, honey, apple cider, syrupy cherry; very sweet to the point of being medicinal. No lacing. Teege (71), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 20, 2009 Draft at redlight redlight. Pours a light amber. Red malts in the nose. Pretty thin on the palate. Subtle hints of brandy that aren’t powerful enough to make it particularly interesting. Easy to drink, but not a lot going on. bergstaden (99), Røros, Norway Oct 17, 2009 Amber with a small whit head - sweet malty aroma with nice bitterness, that lasts into a dry finish - nice and drinkable JanEric (167), Meppel, Netherlands Oct 4, 2009 Bottle, 75 cl. Ambercoloured (like the name also shows). Almost no head. Aroma is hoppy, with hints of citrus. Tastes somewhat sweety, with caramel in it. A bit of a bitter finish, not longlasting.
