EFC1878 (56), Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Jun 29, 2008 Cask at various locations. Not a favourite. So lacking in hop character that it resembles a Scottish beer. Overly sweet and malty, it needs an astringent quality for balance. If it’s all that’s available as a real ale I switch to lagers, it’s that dull. DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Apr 20, 2008 Cask, The Old Red Lion Hotel, Market Bosworth. Chestnut and lacy. Vague walnutty malt, liquorice, varnishy nut bitterness and caramel. A splash of gravy. OK, but tedious. hughie (2194), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Apr 7, 2008 Cask at Bedford Arms Speciality Beer House, Bedford. Copper with a small white head. Sweaty malt aroma. rather dull cardboard taste, thin and watery. Slight bitterness. Thought this was devoid of character: session beer at its lamest. Mes_and_Sim (4320), Highgate, Greater London, England Feb 15, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at the Gardeners Arms, Oxford during the RB pub crawl. Mid brown with a slim tan head. Bread, sultanas and a little too much card. Toffee and coffee notes sort it out. Clearly Jennings but not one of their best. Magic_dave6 (3665), London, Greater London, England Dec 10, 2007 Cask in the kirkside inn and somewhere in penrith. Aroma is a bit minimal but grassy and pale coming on caramekl malts. Taste is very drinkable grassy balanced richer than expected malts, not bad.
