HogTownHarry (3286), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Sep 22, 2008 500ml bottle from Waitrose. Deep clear ruby pour, lots of bubbles, average light tan pancake batter head, lasts a decent while (first beer of England trip, 4/5, why not). Moderately sweet caramel malt aroma, some earthy floral notes. The taste follows, but I’m also getting lightly burnt nutshell and some iodine/iron too - very tasty. Average body, solid carbonation and quite a long bitter linger to it - a very tasty start to what will hopefully be a great London trip yespr (6944), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 14, 2008 50 cL bottle. Pours clear and amber golden with a lacing off-white head. Dry breadish and mild spiced aroma. Flavour is breadish and smooth roasted caramel malty with a light bitterness into a mild acidic roasted malty finish. Nice one. KimJohansen (4296), Copenhagen V, Denmark Sep 13, 2008 Clear amber with medium off white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel notes. Flavour likewise a bitter and malty finish. Svesse (1818), Hässelby, Sweden Sep 7, 2008 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 6 Sep 2008) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of toasty grain, dark bread and dark fruit. Malty taste with dark bread, dried fruit, chocolate and a lingering, dry bitterness in the finish. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel. Very satisfying and well balanced beer, suitable for a nice evening in the armchair. thebeertourist (1889), Oslo, Norway Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Dark reddish brown with a steady beige head. Complex malty aroma with hints of coffee and tons of candy sugar. Initially sweet and malty flavours, somewhat balanced by discrete hops. A brown ale that cherishes malty complexity.
