The hops are very good, making it a rich and well balanced beer. Very good. Not as excellent as the Jever pilsner, but....far better than most. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany

Malty, hoppy, slightly cardboardy aroma. Taste is a bit roastmalty, malty, but a turns into a very bitter finish, which hit me hard the first time, as it was unexpected. After that quite a decent beer, but nothing special. notalush (2661), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Oct 17, 2004 Looks like cola, tastes like a mediocre dark lager - oh, wait, I guess that’s what it is - anyway, the odd thing about this beer is that it kind of tastes like the jever pilsner with caramel and chocolate flavors added to it - not a very good experience. nigos (620), Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England

Porter like taste with roasted, toasty malt and coffee hints medium body with a long finish. Decent dark beer. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 18, 2004 A dark brown beer with a fine chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, licorice, straw, and malt. The flavor is grainy sweet with notes of caramel, nuts, and hints of licorice. It has a very bitter end both coming from bitter hops and roasted malt. A very nice Schwarzbier.
