Commercial Description:
Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

Bottled at Zeitgeist (Jolly Gardener) in Vauxhall. I first tried this on draght in Luebeck, Germany in 1982. This was the first non british beer that had really impressed me. I had not realised that a lager could be so smooth and packed with fresh flavours. I don’t think that it is anything like as bitter as it used to be, but it is still a good beer.

50cl bottle. pours clear yellow with a white head & lacings. Aroma is grain & hay. Taste is sweet malty with a good crispyness in the end - light hop notes. Quite sharp - though clean - bitter & dry finish! Drinkable!

Green bottle just at the best before date, and in fact it smells a bit skunky. Taste seems fine though, with a little initial sweetness followed by herbal hops. Bitter, dry finish. Pale yellow, nice head. Tight carbonation.

(GERMANY) Light golden color with a thin white head. The aroma is grassy with a clean smooth taste and a slight bitter finish. Not a bad pils, but not the best i’ve had.

Big coarseish shiny white lasting head. Yellow body with light carbonation. Light grass and straw aroma. Dry grassy straw taste with grainy malt notes. Light to medium body. Bitter grassy aftertaste. Faint residual sweetness. Verging on watery, with a sharpish mouthfeel. A good and very clean pilsener. (0.4l draft at Altstadt Bierhaus, Lübeck.)
