Maybe it’s because I’m somewhat indifferent to German pilsners and usually prefer wheat beers but I wasn’t really impressed. The taste was crisp but a little too bitter. I can’t find this beer anywhere in SoCal but maybe if I find myself back in Niedersachsen sometime I’ll have another one. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours pale clear yellow, white head. Aroma is wheat, grass, hops skunkiness. Flavor is hoppy, wheaty, grassy, and crisp. This is a good pilsener. Like most German Pilsners, this one has been leaned out over time (50 years that I have known it) to the point where it is not a sipping but a thirst-quenching, but still buzz-inducing, high-quality hops beverage. Quite bitter with a consistent taste. Certainly better than a Bud or a Stella. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

There is a bit of floral/earthy bitterness. A little bit salty and minerally. Herbal bitterness and very crisp. A whiff of sulfur and a crisp bitterness on the back. kappldav123 (1841), Markkleeberg, Germany

Corn, light sweet malts, and some earth. Slightly thin and well carbonated body. Mildly bitter, some hop and malt flavors, with a touch of sweetness. Finish has a little bitter bite. Wish I could have had a less skunky bottle.
