A proper German Pilsener, which is not everyone’s taste, as it is quite bitter. schuimkroaat (395), Leuven, Belgium

Fresh hoppy aromas hit the nostrils as soon as the bottle is opened, followed by an airy biscuit cake once in the glass. This glass also displays a clear golden body topped with a sizeable snow white froth. Clean, dry and bitter taste with a lasting pronounced bitter aftertaste. More hops retronasally. Modest body. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2007 Updated: Dec 20, 2008tap at Laschet’s. Pours a nice yellow gold, not sure about the copper notes that people are seeing. Fluffy dissipating head. Nose is distinct pilsner with a clean herbal hop note with minimal malts. Taste is a nice, smooth bitterness with a touch of sweetness, though finish is very dry. Little breadiness, lively carbonation. A fine example. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 19, 2007 Bottle. I know I’ve enjoyed this a few times before poured draught into a plastic cup at the Gowanus Yacht Club on some warm nights, but don’t remember any of the real finer features. Here, from a bottle, it pours a light lagery gold with a moussy white head. Initial "skunky" musty/dusty aroma common in the imported green bottles dissipates eventually in the glass to a fresher straw and light hop aroma. Flavor of straw to light cereal malts with some decent lemon-pith hoppy bitteness in the back. Where available, it’s a fairly good choice for an imported German. However, nothing really distinctive from say, Pilsner Urquell or Paulaner Pils. andrewboss (137), New York, USA

I usually prefer darker beers, but this is a very full bodied taste that fits my preference. Kirill (264), Durham, North Carolina, USA
