| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 26, 2006 Jever Pilsner, a legendary North German Pilsner, brewed by the Friesian Brewery which was established in the town of Jever in 1848. Jever Pilsner has been touted for years as being one of the finest examples of German Pils, which is the German answer to Czech Pilsner. German Pils is quite similar to Czech Pilsner, but has a more aggressive and vibrant hop character in both aroma and bitterness. You can really taste that very fresh, dry grassy/herbal hop character in Jever Pilsner, which is hopped with Hallertau hops.
Jever Pilsner pours to a beautiful, bright golden color with a very firm, bright white head, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer is very fragrant with big aromas of dry, herbal and resiny hop aromas. This beer comes in at 44 IBU(bittness units), a very respectable level of bitterness for this beer style. The palate is crisp and clean, with a firm base of pilsner malt, which stands up to that aggressive hop character. The body is very round and smooth on this beer, making it just so drinkable. Jever Pilsner finishes with a very long, dry and herbal hop bitterness that buzzes on the tongue and lingers. Wow. This is a world class beer.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 23, 2006 From a green bottle. Why hav eit any other way? The bodyis a ligh gold with a fluffy white head. The aroma is radishes with potatoes and some grass. It si more pleasant than it sounds. Almost like smellng a well cared for root cellar. The mouthfeel is dry and dusty. The taste is sharp with green bell pepper and some spice in the finsh. The hops come through and keep this interesting. A nice light body helps to keep this refreshing. DuffMan (2774), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2006 Simple label, but great beer! Golden yellow with a generous head that leaves lots of lace. Malt and green hops aroma. Pale malt palate that is completely wrapped up in bitterness and green hop character. Perhaps the most bitter pale lager/pilsener example that I have ever tried, yet well-balanced and very satisfying. Recommended. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 28, 2005 Very clear, light amber / yellow. Medium-sized frothy white head. Light herbal aroma, some distant cardboard. Clean and grassy. Taste is a little crisply malty, with some slightly (and surprisingly) obtrusive hops. Hops leave a bitter grass in the crisp malt sweetness. I can see how this would turn into a crappy beer given pour storage or shipping. But I’d say I got a good sample. Overall, its pretty good. Light, but pretty balanced and easy to drink. A little fizzy, but not annoying. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 26, 2005 Noted as being one of the most bitter pilsners in Germany I was quite eager to finally get to taste this. Pours a sparkling, palest yellow-gold with intermittent fine carbonation raising a thin, fairly dense white head that was mostly lasting. Dry, grassy-herbal and bitter nose with a soft hint of sourdough (nothing extraordinary). Hop dominance in the mouth is initially quite startling but it does soften as the palate adjusts. Subtle, white bread, dull malt flavours upfront and into the mid-palate where the hops take full control of the reins and gallop it off to the finish. Slightly sour and genuinely sharply bitter in the back, dying off into a crisp, herbal finish that had a bitter tang that lingered long afterwards. Extremely light in body and quite prickly in carbonation, it remained crisp and fresh until empty, but just didn’t excite me in the way I had hoped. Nice easy drinking, clean lager; good for the summer months. (33cL, 14/10/06) yngwie (5016), Kristiansand, Norway
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 20, 2005 Bottled. Golden beer with a white head. Nice carbonation. Malty and hoppy aroma and flavor. Very bitter all the way, not the normal pilsner. Crisp finish. (051209) bluevegie (2221), Perth, Australia
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2005 Not quite golden in body with a big beaded white head. Some rings of lacing. Soft bitterness, well carbonated, grainy, dry, reminds me a little of James Squire Pilsener. I have had some great Pilseners but this isn’t exactly one of them, but it is different and it does grow on you.
