Golden clear colour. Nice foamy head, a bit frothy. Starts of light bitter and sourish but building up in a rather intense harshness/bitterness.
Soft on the lips and rather sparkling on the tongue. Leaves a nice bitter/harsh taste on the roof of the palate. Lively and tasty.
A typical northern german beer near the coast. You either like it or not! I certainly like it! rcweir (121), Massachusetts, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 24, 2009 The pour is a pale yellow, with a faint shade of green. The carbonation is a bit sharp but the head is quite foamy and smooth. The taste is unusually bitter for a standard german pilsener. The taste of earthy veggies is quite prevalent, but not overbearing. This is an excellent traditional lager that is still able to have a nice punch reminiscent of some of the hoppier american beers. jfb (427), Weihenstephan, Germany

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 13, 2009 Bottle at the Pembury Tavern, London on 10th July 2009. Pours pale gold with white head. A strong hempy hop aroma leads to an exquisite hop bite which I love but know other raters refer to it in a less favourable light. A hempy, grassy hop then drives the finish, on a fairly effervescent mouthfeel. A reliable beer, and you know what you’re getting every time with this one. rmussman (905), California, USA
