Commercial Description:
Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

A great pils, if not my favorite, I tried this about 3 years ago, and hated it, now I love it, shows how people and taste change, the hops and grassiness burst out at the first sip, my bottle was very fresh. I think it should be served in a brown bottle though. I can´t wait to have it again!

Bottle. Light yellow-gold, medium dying head, some nice lacing...nose mostly skunky, alas, but a bit of dry grassiness helps...sour-bitter body, fairly strong dry bitterness late, a bit of metal in the finish...thin-to-medium body. OK.

Quite pale. Straw colour, without much head. It has the classic dry malt and grassy hop aroma. Soft malt continues into the flavour. Crisp, with some hop bite, but more mellow and less dry than I had anticipated. Has a sort of mineral mouthfeel - slate and flint - that you get with some dry white wines. Also a touch of citrus. Very close to it’s best before date, so might have been better when fresher. Overall, a solid, but unspectacular beer. I was expecting more. 500ml bottle from beersofeurope.co.uk.

Clear golden yellow, decent head, nice lacing. Aroma grainy with some floral notes and a touch of earth. Good body, nice malt backbone with a decent hop bite, earth and faint flowers. Nice.

Had this on tap at the Horseshoe Pub in Hudson. Has a clear golden color with little head and some carbonation. Smell is of light hops. Taste is lightly malted and finished with a slightly sour bitterness. Overall not the best pilsner and could be even better, but for the sour taste.

Perfect balance of bitter hops I would expect in a premium pilsner. Malt flavor is complemented well and the after taste rules. Not my favorite style but just plain respectable.
