Commercial Description:
Unique in taste. The secret lies in the water, which is still taken from the same well used well over 100 years ago. The water from our well is unusually pure and soft. That allows us to add a touch more hops to create the Friesian-bitter taste that distinguishes Jever Pilsner from any other beer.

On tap in Kreuzberg, Berlin. Excellent stuff, truly a great example of masterful German pilsener. This is wonderfully dry and bitter, with a fizzy, crispness which sets the standard. This explodes on your tongue and holds you captivated, till the glass is empty.

Slightly skunky (huh? it came out of the gift box and into the fridge just long enough to slightly chill. Anyway, the odor was there.) Apart from that, some grassy/hay-ey smells, light tinkling malt. Less of a head than I thought was warranted, but a clear, sparkling gold color and plesant effervesence throughout. I admit it, pilsners no longer scare me. This was nice. It complemented my chili. It was good. So be it.

Bottle Clear, effervescent, pale straw yellow with a thin, bright white head. Thankfully, this bottle is not light-struck. Good aroma with lots of grassy, herbal hops over a slightly sweet, crackery malt base. Some freshly mown hay. The flavor is assertively bitter, with a hefty dose of noble hop flavors. Firm, toasted malt provides a solid backbone that lends a subtle sweetness under the hops. Ends like it began, bitter and wonderful, with a cleansing dryness. Lengthy finish… Somewhat light in body, with a firm, crisp mouthfeel. A very respectable pilsener that slaps you with hop flavor and bitterness ala Victory’s Prima Pils…and that’s good company indeed.

On draft at Hero's in Manassas, VA. Light yellor color with little head. Herbal aroma with a malty taste. Overall OK. But nothing great about this beer.

Very light golden colour with a nice white head. Decent aroma with a mild sweetness (perhaps from Peaches & Pears?). Medium to Light-bodied; Medium strength taste with a metal, malt and stale hop flavour. Aftertaste displays a metallic twang and slight maltiness. Overall, decent but not a great lager. I had this pint on draught at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.

Only available here in a can unfortunately. I watched the head vanish before my first sip, but I didn't really pour a large one to start with. Not much aroma I could detect. The taste does grow on me. Slightly heavyish. Somewhat grainy flavour and I thought the balance was ok. Bitterness emerges in the aftertaste, which lingers. The body's not bad for a pilsener. Ultimately not really to my tastes even if I'd say it's quite OK. Re-rate: So, that used to be pretty strong for my taste? This time around the head was fine and the colour seemed a light golden. Aroma hinted at malt and hops to come (mayhaps some hay?), and this beer delivered. It has a solid body, but the hoppy, bitter finish overpowers the malt somewhat. Perhaps the best thing I've tasted out of a can, really. There are better pilsners out there, but this one is good enough to be bought again. Fitted the Hungarian gulasch soup was having pretty well, too.

Big foamy white head. Hops are evident in the earthy, herbal nose. Crystal clear golden-yellow hue. Extremely dry, tingly, pleasant carbonation, faint yeastiness, followed by a bitter, lingering finish. Darn good I say.
