Very light gold/yellow in colour. Not much aroma, maybe some corn. Flavour was metallic, very watery, with a corny blandness. Finishes very light.

Ugly yellow. Sweet corny aroma. Thin and watery, bland. The label was kind of nice, too bad that doesn’t count.

Clear yellow-gold with small white head. Aroma is minimal, with some sweet corn notes. Body is very light and watery. Flavour is a little biscuity, but fairly bland. Wins points for not having the off-flavours that you usually find in macros, but it’s pretty uninspired.

Clear, light gold w/ orange-ish hue. Fizzy, white head. Faint sugary, fruity, corny aroma. Light, watery feel. Bland, watery corn & funky mushroom flavour w/ some mineral notes.

Now I feel like a member of the club. I prefer this over a lot of the other majors but there’s not a whole lot here. A corny and watery taste accompanied by a corn roast water aroma. Pretty bland and ordinary.

Pale golden colour with a lot more flavour than expected but not necessarily a good thing. Some corny sugary aromas at times. Bit of malty biscuityness as well.

Another of the five Newfoundland regional beers that the big breweries make. The label and name definitely evoke something your grandfather would drink (my grandfathers drink rum and Sam Adams Lager respectively, but used to drink Ten Penny - another great regional beer - and Charrington Toby).

Copper in colour, Jockey Club has large artificial bubbles and no real head to speak of. The aroma is appley, with fusel and DMS notes, a rather inauspicious start. On the palate, it is only just slightly more bitter than a typical macro. Vague hints of caramel, wood, tobacco and bready malt make it more beer-like than most macros. Fusels ruin the aftertaste. Watery body. Not particularly well-made, but that's part of its charm. It is certainly among the more interesting and characterful macros in Canada.
