John Butler Porter

Bottle. (33cl swing-top!) It looks clear when poured, with a dark chestnut color and a large tan head. Quite sweet aroma with lightly burnt malt, quite a lot of malts actually, and hops and resin. Sugar, roasted malt, hops, caramel and some alcohol in the flavor. A bit warming, almost full mouthfeel. A nice blend of a doppelbock, a porter and hops. Thx KnutAlbert for this rare gem. (070321)

Lovely dark ruby, firm milk chocolate head. Aroma and taste more like a bock than a porter IMHO. Soem hops, some sweetness, and there is a pine aroma reminding me of retsina (!) Some warming alcohol in the finish. A bit thin, but a good beer. Rather different.
