Very nice brown ale, very brown in color with a light white bubbly head, lots of sweet maltiness in the nose, very well balanced body, a hint of some nuts in the flavors, slight hint of coffee as well, slight bitterness & dryness in the finish, overall a pretty great brown ale

Tried at the Washington D.C. branch. Truly suprised about the low scores on this one; I thought it one of the better brews I tasted in D.C.. The color is deep brown which hovers on porter lovibond. The aroma is gorgeous, some citrus hoppiness, caramel, toffee, and bubble gum (which works for some reason.) Flavor is very complex ... lots of malt chewiness to be sure, but a lot more hops than anticipated. This is the brown ale I was hoping for when I tried Dogfish's IBA. Over hopped for style, but this is one lovely brew.

Reminds me of a more flavorful version of Pete's. Dark and full bodied, kind of flat and bitter at the finish.

I found this beer to be easy drinking and a good example of a Brown Ale.

Springfield, PA. Many cask-conditioned beers are flat, though they aren't necessarily supposed to be. Some of the better ones have a richness to make up for it. This one didn't - its a total disaster. Flat and flavorless with only a meek malt presence.
