Tap at the Lake Grove location. Deep brown beer with no head at all. Herbal nad nutty aroma with notes of toast and bitter chocolate and some sweet earthy hops on the top. Flavour is quite earthy and toasty. Fairly thin-bodied but quite tasty nonetheless. With the body bumped up some it would be much better, but as it stands it’s only okay.

Sampled on draft at the Monroeville PA location this beer poured a black color with a large frothy brown head. The aroma is bitter roasty malts, dry chocolate and coffee. The flavor is bitter roasty malts with strong floral hops and bitter gritty coffee on the finish. Decent but smells better than it tastes.

Sample at the Pittsburgh location. Deep dark brown color, almost black, with a medium tan head with good retention. Rings of lacing through the glass. Roasty malt aroma with espresso in the background. Full-bodied and smooth with a nice array of coffee, malt and chocolate flavors. The finish is thoroughly malty with a good coffee aftertaste. Well done.

On tap at John Harvards in DC. Poured a dark black with a small tan head. Roasted and light chocolate aroma and tastes. Slightly smokey as well. Very drinkable.

(DC) Black body with dark red highlights, tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, some smoke, light caramel, cookie dough. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, chocolate, with distinctly smoky chocolate finish. Light body, hint of sticky.

This beer kicks ass! A deep blackish/burgundy color with a great head and tons of lacing. The taste is dark alish, almost porterish, but much smoother. The finish is creamy, sweet, and gentle. Don't get me wrong....this isn't a watered down porter, rather a solid, smooth dark ale. A must try.

Part of the sampler at the Wayne, PA location. This was a good beer. Had a nice chocolate roast flavor to it.

Springfield, PA. Not only drank this at the brewpub, but brought a growler of it home for only $6.95 (JHB is running a special). Beer poured dark brown with small creamy head. Chocolate malt flavor evident, it was a great session beer.
