The taste is dark alish, almost porterish, but much smoother. The finish is creamy, sweet, and gentle. Don't get me wrong....this isn't a watered down porter, rather a solid, smooth dark ale. A must try. PhillyBeer2112 (2089), Orange Park, Florida, USA

Dry, crisp and clean: a good beer to drink. Lacked the interesting nuances of other schwarzbiers that I've had, but otherwise one of the best out of John Harvard's. boto (1345), Granby, Connecticut, USA

Deep dark brown color, almost black, with a medium tan head with good retention. Rings of lacing through the glass. Roasty malt aroma with espresso in the background. Full-bodied and smooth with a nice array of coffee, malt and chocolate flavors. The finish is thoroughly malty with a good coffee aftertaste. Well done. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA
