SwedeDog (364), Windsor, Connecticut, USA Jan 28, 2006 Cask at JH in Manchester. Slightly bland aroma, but what was there was a bit roasty with baker’s chocolate. Roasty to start in the mouth, but sweetens (from chocolate) a bit as it goes. Despite the roastiness, it finishes remarkably smooth. It’s a rather tasty creation, it just doesn’t have the complexity that I’d like from an impy stout. DYCSoccer17 (2040), Davis, California, USA Jan 16, 2006 Cask at the John Harvard’s in Manchester, CT. Quite roasted chocolate/cocoa powder aroma with a bit f mild and anise in the nose. I also get a little grapefruity hoppiness. Opaque black color with a small brown head. Dark as Duany. Brief mildly sweet start which turns very roasted with burnt coffee and cocoa flavors. Some anise comes through a bit later on and a healthy dose of grapefruity PNW hoppiness to finish. Body is smooth and tasty, but this is a little overhopped and too dry for me.
