Commercial Description:
We took the old Swheat recipe and tossed it out the window. The new version is a strong Belgian wheat ale flavored with Italian plum, boysenberry, and blackberry. This is a delicious fruit beer not to be taken lightly!

On draught at JH. Arrived at the table a pretty slightly reddish, slightly purplish amber with a thin linen white head that quickly faded to a ring and left light patchy lace. Pleasant aroma of plums, berries and a bit of citrus, mostly lemon. The flavor is very fruity and is predominantly plums, berries, and some mild citrus, which again is mostly lemon. I enjoy fruit beers and found this to be a very refreshing summer ale.

Tap at JH. Aroma of wheat, very light clove/yeast profile, boysenberry. Flavor is big, sweet boysenberry with some wheat malt accents. There are bits of fruits still in the beer, rendering it much like a smoothis, both in sweetness and mouthfeel. It was enjoyable to drink, though more so than really any other off the wall fruit/otherwise flavored beer, it had very little beer character to be enjoyed, which makes it difficult to rate as a beer. I guess what I mean to say is that if you really want a beer, any sort of beer, this really isn’t what you should be ordering. ...But I liked it too...

On tap at JH. This is one of the most interesting/unusual beers I have ever had. First of all, the most striking thing about this beer is its appearance. It pours a dark plum with a thick fuschia head. It is very cloudy and there are fruit particles (pulp) floating in the glass. It actually leaves a coating of pulp on the glass. It pretty much looks like a beer-smoothie (which is pretty awesome, in my opinion). It’s appearance was also the talk of the brewpub as everyone was shocked by its purple color. Aroma of wheat, clove, and sweet berry. Flavor is initially very wheat-beer like (or even hefe- like) with lots of yeast. The fruit gradually starts to make its presence with lots of sweet berry. Not overly sweet or artificial in any way. Awesome mouthfeel with the pulp. It really is very smoothie-like. This is one of the coolest fruit beers I’ve ever had. The title is appropriate. 8/5/8/5/16 (4.2/5)
