argo0 (6231), Washington DC, USA Dec 26, 2007 (6.2% ABV) Clear amber body, off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, juicy grapefruit, some pine, light earthy, apricot, caramel. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, light pale malt, somewhat dry finish. Medium body, some chewiness. jjpm74 (3158), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Dec 23, 2007 On draught at the Manchester location. Pours cloudy amber with a white head. Smells of familiar resiny hops, some citrus, some dry malts, hints of biscuits. Taste is earthy with some decent bitterness and a dry citrussy finish. TrevorFloyd (309), Connecticut, USA Jan 8, 2007 Has the expected IPA profile, with that citrus hop tang, along with a sweet malty backbone. However, the steam process gives it another level of tang/bite that makes this one notable. I wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again, but it’s certainly interesting enough to warrant a try. DYCSoccer17 (2040), Davis, California, USA Mar 2, 2006 On tap at Manchester, CT location. Pint. Citrus, orangey aroma that is pretty mild with some brown sugar-like sweetness as well. There is also a metallic aroma in the backgroud. Pleasant enough. Moderate/mostly hazy amber color with a frothy yellow-tan head and nice lacing. Hoppy bitter grapefruity citrus and floral flavors to start, turning more chewy, malty, and metallic with the lager yeastiness. There are also burnt malty flavors with some caramel touches. A unique attempt, but I’m not a big fan of Steamed beers, though. The lager yeast just sorta makes this one taste funked and a bit out of place. Still good, but not amazing.
