Commercial Description:
John Labatt Classic was introduced in 1983 as Canada’s only national domestic “premium beer”. It is Krausen-brewed (slow, low temperature with a secondary fermentation process) and has a longer cold-aging process. Classic uses all-malt and a unique blend of western-grown North American hops, providing a smooth, full flavour product with a true malt taste that is slightly sweet. Editor's Note: Is this only available in the US?

as far as plae lagers go, this actually has some flavour! Imagine that! Some sweet malt notes, and a touch of hops, dont get me wrong, it’s still a Labatt product, and thats abundantly clear, but it’s not bad, and drinkable.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow-gold with a bright white head of fairly large bubbles. The head did not last very long, but left a nice lace on the glass. Of the 4 beers in the sampler case I bought, this is the onl yone that had a noticible aroma - and a decent one for a megabrew. Sweet malt was there, with some hops, by golly! Advertised as an all-malt beer, I believe it. A nice beer.

Nothing much to say really. Got this form a friend who works at a distributer, thanks Chris! I kind of like Regular Labatts but this? Not overly bad just weak, ting of hops and watery grass. Moving on!

Laudable effort by Labatt--much better than the usual swill. I only wish it were available here in Cleveland, besides Blue, Blue lt., and Ice. I got it in the heritage Sampler Pack. 50 is decent, Classic is a bit better--the Honey lager is sickeningly sweet and tasteless. Blue is Blue.

Honey malts with a slight citrus aroma. Pours blonde with a thick white head. Honey lager malts, crisp lager flavor, with a little hop bite. Nothing special, but good for Labatt’s.

This bottled brew from a guy at a grocery store who I bought a bottle from his 12 pack poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were and left behind a transparent very softly carbonated straw yellow colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was astringent and grassy. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The thin flavor contained notes of malt hops astringent and grassy. A horrible one that I would rather not drink again.

Bottle from the sampler pack in my neighbors frig- light golden color, decent size head, with little lacing. I actually like Labatt Blue so thought this would be better. Not really the case. It’s not a bad beer, but it had a funky aftertaste that that took away from the otherwise clean smooth feel. Worthy of a try if you haven’t had before, but really hard to call this a premium beer.

11.5 ounce bottle from variety "John Labatt Heritage Pack" bought from Biggs. Clear yellow color, unpleasant wet grass/musty aroma, small but lasting head with minimal lacing, light to moderate bittersweet flavor with somewhat of a hop bite. The flavor of this beer was much better than the aroma would have led me to believe, and it’s better than Labatt Blue, but I can’t help but wonder if this was a little old. I hope the beer distributor that services Biggs isn’t palming off its old stock there--I recently saw some Abita Amber there which was well past its expiration date, and it hadn’t been on the shelves that long. I applaud Biggs for bringing in a much better beer selection than most of the other chain grocery stores in the area, but someone at Biggs needs to keep a better eye on things.
