Bottle. Faint malty aroma. Dark amber body, small head. Very watery taste, with just a hint of caramel and malt. Unpleasant finish. Pretty terrible.

12oz bottle poured into glass. Brownish red color with an off white head. When held up to light it is a deep red color. Malty smell with a hint of alcohol. Has a pretty sweet taste to it, not much hop taste, just a nibble at the end. Easy on the palate, could certainly tip back a few. Overall a good entry by Labatt.

Brown in color with a hint of red when held to the light. Some malt in aroma. Flavor of sweet malt, no hops. Some bitter in the ending though.

Had in a mix variety case. Pours a dark amber brown, clear with big bubbly offwhite head. Aroma typical lager corniness with bit of sweetness. Flavor very sweet and watery. Like a poor version of yuengling.

An redish brown ale, frothy / off-white head appearance. Smells a bit like burnt grainy with a light scent of pine. A slight acidic taste, with a little bitter finish, and minimal aftertaste. Not a bad everyday labatt beer.

’’LABATTS RED AMBER LAGER S5L4F3T6012 My twist off bottle says John Labatt Red Amber Lager. Smells better than most labatt beers, has a bit more quality and perhaps it’s a little more volatile to the olfactory. This makes me think it’s above 5%. Much darker than expected. Unhazy dark brown maroon pour. No head. Smooth initial taste sensations. Gentle yet has enough personality to say it’s more than a pale lager. Certainly more than a wishy-washy lager by anybody’s standards. On par with many Michelob dark lagers. Nice shadowy lager. Could easily drink many of these in a session. Good experience. Likable brew which does not get under yer skin. Finish is not bitter and it can be affable. ’’

11/01/2008: I’m not really sure why they call this ’John Labatt Red Amber Lager’ considering it is more brown than anything with a tinge of amber. It has a clean and clear appearance with an off-white that comes and goes quickly after the initial pour. A dry, slightly malty aroma is paired with lightly buttered toast flavor. There really isn’t much to this beer. Overall this beer is smooth, drinkable, and uttery non-descript. I actually had higher hopes after reading the previous reviews. My expectations were not met. The Labatt Red Amber may be slightly better than the Labatt Honey Lager, but so far the Labatt Classic is my favorite of their offerings.

340 ml/11.5 fl. oz. twist-off bottle (J03 M85 0056)from 24-pack sampler purchased via Tmoney99. Rating #6 for this beer...

Bottle. One of the better beers Labatt has to offer, which isn’t saying too much, but not a bad beer. Very nice reddish brown color with a typical bitter red lager taste.
