Has a clear and bright copper hue with a decent sized head that dissipates a bit quicker than I’d hoped. Aroma has the strong malt notes expected from the style, with a fair bit of caramel and toffee, and a light herbal edge thanks to the hops. Body is a touch light for the style, with a decent level of carbonation, making it a good palate-cleansing companion for food. The flavour starts sweet, with the caramel and toffee character suggested by the aroma, followed by a hint of orange and a moderately dry nuttiness. Herbal and slightly earthy hops are noticeable in the finish, but take a back seat to the hops. As with previous John Sleeman Presents beers, it ain’t the best example of its style that I’ve had, but it’s still a very respectable and quaffable beer. fredthecat (203), Canada

Crisp copper amber amber body with small foamy off-white head. 3+ Odd aroma, grainy? Muted malt. Flavour is similar. Modest grainy malt, toasty caramel notes. Average to light palate. Meh. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Mild caramel and bready malts in the nose. Clear brown body topped by a low but lasting white head. Flavour offers caramel and bread-like malt characteristics with some light spicy hops especially in the aftertaste. Medium light body with moderate carbonation. Pretty innocuous, but at least somewhat suggestive of a bock. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle purchased at the BCLS at Kingsgate in Nov-09. TheJester (718), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
