| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown with a large tan head. Malty, hoppy and chocolatey aroma. Flavours are roasted malts, chocolate, cardboard. Not bad, but not too much like any porter I’m familiar with. Light, carbonated mouthfeel.
Well, I’m enjoying it despite reservations. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jul 14, 2006 Aroma is kind of cola-like with faint hints of raisin, but the concentration is very low and you really have to get down in it to smell much. The body is a dark, red-tinted, brown color and holds a radidly diminishing finger thick tan head. Fore is watery and light with a steeped malt tea effect flavor wise. Some very mild roastiness and bitterness start in the middle and work back to the finish. Has a very tangy slightly rotten flavor that is a bit like stewed over ripe prunes in the aftertase. The whole thing feels like a a beer that has been cut with water to increase the quantity it’s just pervasively thin though there is some flavor in the latter flavor ranges. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 14, 2006 Bottled. Pours a dark reddish brown with a massively lacy tan head. The aroma is citrus, nuts, and chocolate. The body is medium, but goes a bit watery in places. The taste has toffee, fruit, and nuts going for it. The finish is spicy dry with some metallic/soapy notes. It starts out all right, but there’s something not completely OK about this brew. DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 27, 2006 This beer pours a brownish, reddish I just pooped my pants type color with a huge poofy tanned head and moderate lacing. This is a porter right???? Blame Canada I guess.... The aroma is hoppy as all hell with malts and hints of cardboard and light chocolate. The flavor is nothing reminscent of a porter. Very little in the way of a thick body..little chocolate and this awful bitterness in the finish. Pretty bland is every respect. Fairly dry finish...sticky malts. Not obtrusive...but how dare they make any attempt to call this a porter! OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 24, 2006 12 oz bottle labeled as ’68 porter but i presume it to be the same. Pours light brown witha short offwhite head. Aromas of cardboard, roasted malts, and light chocolate. Flavor is roasted malts, cardboard, chocolate but not much else. Palate is very light and watery. Not much to see or taste on this one. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jun 8, 2006 Pours dark brown with a reddish tint and tan head - that is the best thing about this beer. Aromas has roasted malts and cream that smells artificial. Medium to thin body with moderate carbonation. Sharp tasting - tinny and metallic. Finish is bitter and metallic as well. A saw no resemblence to a porter with this beer aside from how it looked. This may have been old, but I’d still say not to waste your money on this stuff. It couldn’t be priced cheap enough for me to buy it again. jacktripper (20), Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 4, 2006 Pours a very dark brown with a mocha head. Aroma is of chocolate, cocoa and coffee. Flavour is much of the same with an added element of malt. Finish is quite smooth. Overall a good porter and probably the best Sleeman beer. Hollywoodt (174), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 29, 2006 Tried this from a friend in Soo, Ontario. The aroma and flavor were pretty good... a little chocolate, some roasted malt. It was perhaps a little thin, but not bad at all.
