Commercial Description:
Also known as Porter 68.
Brewed in small batches and limited quantities, Fine Porter is the first of the John Sleeman Presents series. Taken right from page 68 of the family recipe book, it pays homage to the original Porters of Great Britain, and was brewed by George Sleeman back in the 1800s.
Tasting Notes: Fine Porter is one of the more flavourful styles of ale. It has a rather bold, malty taste and a deep, rich colour.

Hugh creamy head that laces the glass. Murky brown colour. The fun stops here. Flavour of water and burnt coffee grounds.11.5 oz bottles. At least the brewer didn’t make me endure a whole 12 oz.bottle.Will save the rest of this 6-pk for pesky guests.108 year old receipe...burn the book.Send the UC Rebellion lager to the states instead. BRAVO on the brown bottles.

was hoping for more depth from such a nice-colored porter--but it just isn’t there. Thin, slightly astringent, disappointing. Don’t bother with this one.

A porter that tastes promising in the first sip, but one quickly finds that the flavour is deceptively shallow. At first I couldn’t put my hand on how to describe the flavour, but I think it is best described as having a burnt popcorn taste. It has a beautiful colour though, kind of red/brown.

There is a light roasted aroma. Color is a dark brown with a tan head. Flavor is a light roasted malt but is subdued. The finish on the palate is somewhat weak and uninspiring.

I guess there is a first for everything: this was my first drain-pour porter. Dark brown with a tan head. Weird metallic. slightly sour aroma, somewhat medicinal. A bit of roasted coffee/chocolate in the flavor, but they are largely masked by a horrid metallic flavor folllowed by a strange sourness in the finish. Awful.

Pour is a clear cola like brown with no head. Aroma is hard to detect but it was a strange chemical smell. Not very good. Flavor is nothing to write home about. Some choco and malt but all is very weak. Prob the worst porter i have ever had.

Actually a decent looking pour with a dark brown color and a mountain of light chocolate mousse. Weak nose, with some caramel, toffee and a touch of viennese coffee. Sweet and acidic when it come down to it. Some dark caramel comes together with mild , yet somewhat in your face bitterness that takes over the finish and leave the linger hanging like some dried herbs. A schwartz and porter cross.

From a distinctive shaped Sleeman bottle with no freshness date. Made a promising appearance, poured a semi-opaque red hued dark chocolate brown with a nice sized creamy pale tan head that reduced to a thin clingy bubbly lacing. Had faint, clean aromas, roasted chocolate maltiness, a little vanilla and fruity hoppiness. Medium carbonation and a slick light medium bodied mouth feel, not that drinkable. Had a watery roasted malty taste, a metallic bitterness and a dry thin roasted malty finish with a unpleasant metallic aftertaste.
