| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 3, 2006 Bottle. Part of Sleeman sampler. Pours golden, looks very much like a lager. Not much aroma on pour. Taste is decent, though lacking the big hop taste of a lot of IPA’s. Some bitter on the finish. BeerBelcher (943), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 21, 2006 Sleeman IPA 46* purchased in a 6-pack in Madison, WI. Pleasing light copper color. Lacing is light, like a mainstream beer. Aroma is also quite insignificant for an IPA...not a lot of hop odor. However, this beer is really not bad. Definitely not an American Pale Ale; this is more lightly hopped and balanced in the English style. Nonetheless, for what I understand is a mainstream beer, this is really pretty good. Is this beer (the IPA 46*) be listed separately from the Sleeman Presents IPA? TheJester (711), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 9, 2006 341 mL bottle. Deep gold with a bit of persistent head. Smells like Sleemans - I like Beerguy101’s description of "piney hops" - it works. If you know the "Sleeman’s taste" - this is as good an example of it as you’ll find. Crisp, bitter, but fairly straightforward. Not bad, but I prefer their dark and ale. beerguy101 (3920), Newark, California, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 9, 2006 This IPA pours a light orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is slightly piney hops, touch of corn, some cinnamon and honey. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet, touch of corn and honey. Hops are very mild, touch of pine. Kind of harsh and metallic tasting, there is also a touch of toast, some honey and a touch more cinnamon. Well carbonated. This beer is a total mess, a macro IPA? Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a lingering aftertaste of cinnamon. PorterPounder (3138), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Medium orange pour, sparkling, decent sized white head with thickish lacing.lFaint fruity aroma, hints of spruce. Flavor has a solid, subtle bitterness reminding me more of an English bitter than an IPA. Just a hint of grapefruity tartness - definitely not a West coast IPA. Mouthfeel is slightly stinging. Otherwise a solid effort. Aurelius (2648), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2006 Labeled Sleeman IPA 46* Ale. This impressed me - unmistakable upstate NY/Ontario representation of an EIPA. Good appearance marks - brown bottle, as opposed to the one shown, good bottle shape, nice embossed logo, nice label. Clear orange-tinged gold beer, an inch-tall faintly tan head. Parched malt aroma with whiffs of well-simmered hops. Fairly well-bittered, I like the malt backbone, tangy and dry. Good mouthfeel without getting too heavy. Minor grumbles about some unpleasant bitterness on the backend, but I really dug this one and think that it’s hugely under-rated. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 16, 2006 Initial skunky aroma, could be the clear bottle. Golden colour, bitterness, and and a citrus flavour in the backround. Interesting beer but overpriced.
