To the nose it reminded me of alot of eastern europian beers I’ve had. Heavcy malt scent with a slice of metal. First sip was slightly hoppy with a watery aftertaste and a little hop on the palate to finish. Not too bad but a little boring Slacks (486), Bolton, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2006 341ml Bottle: Pours golden in colour with a thick head that stayed with me to the end. Plenty of artificial carbonation flowing upwards. Aroma of butter, hops, and malts; intriguing. Taste is quite nice, actually. Lots of rich malts on the first sip, makes way to a nice soft bitterness with floral tones from the hops. Excellent balance, and far superior to the phony arse Alex Keith stuff. Surprising, but sadly I found myself quite bloated due to the fake carbonation. Otherwise a very good pick. PhillyBeer2112 (2089), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 18, 2006 US bottle, Sleeman IPA 46*. Pours a pale copper color, but with a big creamy head and medium lacing. Initially a nice front of spicy hops and buttery malts, sort of like an over-hopped kolsch. Medium sweet and bready, with light herbal and spicy hops. Finish is balanced and dry. Really a pale ale in my book (not that it matters really, the beer is merely OK). | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Aug 9, 2006 The aroma has what an IPA should have. It’s got plenty of hops and lots of malt. It does however have a tad of adjuncts in there as well. The appearance is deep gold with a medium foamy head. The flavor has a lot of those adjuncts to go along with the bitter hops. The palate is thicker than many IPA’s, and very nice. Overall it’s very drinkable but not fantastic. zebracakes (1216), Washington DC, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Aug 7, 2006 Bottle. Pours hazy gold, white head. Aroma is malt and corn. Flavor is malt, bitter, corn, caramel. This is not an IPA. BCAR (216), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 25, 2006 Dark straw color. Slightly creamy head. Malt/light hop nose. Good mouthfeel. There is some body present here, but just blah. More of an English bitter style. Don’t go out of your way for this one. JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 12, 2006 Bottle. Light copper coloured with a slim white head. Piney hop aroma. Doesn’t taste like an IPA particularly. Spicey bitterness dominates along with a sort of sour maltiness. Not particularly good, not bad, but certainly drinkable.
