Pour is black with wisps of white and a ring of white cream. Aroma is sour up front, but I also smell some creamy doughy malt. Interesting. The flavor is tantalizing, sour tingly, kinda grassy? Weird, but not boring. This one I actually wish I had in a 750 - I need more time. 6/4/8/4/17
ADD RATING: First bottling (12oz) of this special beer. Pour is brownish black with a thin head of cream and lace. The aroma is really showing the bret sourness. Nothing too funky, just sour. The flavor is well-rounded; beginning slight sweet and malty, and finishing with the smooth sourness, almost like sour cherries. Very easy to drink. 7/4/8/4/18. ucusty (1920), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Light bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness. WeeHeavySD (3042), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Nose is very nice and sweet. Taste is sweet, ruddy, and a little thin, the nose was far better on this one for me. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Bottled. Beer is slightly cloudy, medium-dark warm caramel brown. Head is initially small, off white, fizzy; diminishes almost totally but hangs in there in the end.
The aroma is minor keyed; autumnal. Malty with light toasted grain, bread crusts, trace of roaste peanut; Light lemon-herbal hop; Yeasty with light notes of barnyard, basement; Moderate miscellaneous notes of tree sap, decaying leaves, trace of tart apple.
The flavor is spartan. Trace sweet, lightly bitter with a long, trace acidic/sour, lightly bitter finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
Not sure where this little number fits in style-wise, but I like the moody, waning impression it imparts. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (roasted/toasted grain/nuts), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, barnyard), with notes of tree bark, autumn leaves, minerals, hint of lemon zest. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light body, watery texture, lively carbonation. I’m kinda surprised the average score is as high as it is; this is a lean little monkey with not a lot of the typical attractors. It reminds me of a much lighter, watery Black Ghost or something along those lines. Stony, autumnal nose, and very highly attenuated (a little too much, even for a saison). Interesting, but not that compelling. beerbill (1982), Laurel, New York, USA
