| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Pours a dark red color with a large, white head. Aroma is yeasty, a bit funky. Sharp, tart body with a dry finish. A touch sour. This beer is like an overall muted version of Bam Biere. 37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 25, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours medium brown with red hues and an off-white head. Nose is spicy and fruity. Sour, funky flavor with that great brett twang. Finish is lingering. Very earthy. I drank this with my Thanksgiving meal and I thought it was a great compliment to the overall meal. alexsdad06 (1091), Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 24, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear ruby red in color with a small lasting beige head. The aroma is tart fruits, light yeast, brett, and some wood. The flavor is fruity, heavy on the wood, medium sweet, cherries, with an earthiness surrounding everything. Light/medium body. I’m not sure what to make of this one. It’s not something that I think I would do again. Naven (876), Poway, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2007 12 oz bottle. Brown/amber pour. Fairly carbonated, with a lactic, sour, medicinal aroma. Flavor is fairly weak, with a spicy, sour, medicinal flavor throughout. I seem to get a lot of these JP beers in trades, and to be honest it’s a brewery that just work with me. Just not my thing. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Updated: Nov 26, 2007In short: An original dry fruity dark ale. Good but a bit off. This is no Bam Bière.
How: Montreal-crew sour-beer tasting. Bottle from Beerbuzzmontreal.
The look: Dark brown body with a medium beige head
In long: The aroma was a mix of raisins and this weird rubber/new toy smell. Body was very fluffy to the point of feeling a bit empty. Taste is dry, a bit woody, prune juice and a little wet ashes. Sounds off… and it was. Not a bad beer at all but compared to its sister the Bam Bière (one of my favourite beer ever) this is a big letdown. Strong yeast presence but very little of that funkiness that I expect from a Jolly Pumpkin especially one bearing the name Bam. I guess being black and being funky at the same time is just not possible. With folk singers it’s the other way around.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2007 From a 750ml bottle--Poured a light black-brown body with a beige-tan head. Sour nose with hints of spicy and floral fruits. Lactic acid flavor, tart and grassy. Lemony and roasty. A strange complexity that is not so sessionable, but quite interesting and unique. Easy to appreciate. puzzl (2635), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2007 750 from jjpm/beastiefan/MJ’s rare beer club. A disappointment, coming form JP. Very buttery oak aroma with lactose and minerals. Blunt buttery oak in the flavor with a tropical fruit explosion and a light, dry finish. Not doing it for me.
