Pours an awesome dark mahogany color with a densely packed long lasting beige head. Nose is awesomely sour and funky with hints of candied fruits and spice. Heavy nose, almost like an ABT. This beer is incredibly underated in my opinion. Very unique stout like flavors up front with toasted malts giving way to a spicy finish with light sourness. Very drinkably but the palate is very full. This beer is a marvel of design. Absolutely terrific. beerinmarch (2810), Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Nose more like Cantillon, acidic, sour. Interesting roastiness darts in and out on the palate. Beautiful play between the sweetness of the earthy roastiness and the sour and acidic finish. Woody and faint cherry and cocoa flavors. I’ve been amazed by the JP beers so far, this one really stands out, my favorite so far. KAggie97 (2469), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Pours like cherry wine with an attitude, complete with an aroma of lignonberry, cranberry, and mineral water. Flavor is sour cherry lambic soda. Heavenly mouthfeel. Jolly Pumpkin rocks. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 5, 2009 Bomber at redlight redlight. Pours very dark with streaks of dark amber in the light. The aroma is subtle but very nice with hints of dark malts and spices, perhaps dill. This is a very refreshing dark saison. Tart but so much as to overwhelm the other flavors. The dill comes out even stronger on the tongue. Subtle hints of vinegar and unripe berries add complexity. sebletitje (1925), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 23, 2008 Totally love this oaky taste, so similar to the Rodenbach Grand Cru. It takes some getting used to it, a beer that you learn to love and appreciate.
Batch 262/263, color dark amber, roasty and smoky.
Always amazed by their quality. ratman197 (3235), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Aromas of toffee, tobacco, berries, light oak, light spice and a hint of yeast. Palate was medium bodied smooth and slightly dry and tart. Flavors of leather, berries, light oak, light tobacco and a hint of spice with a smooth dry lightly tart finish. Suttree (2734), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 26, 2009 Batch 340/341. black, thick, rich beisge head. Tart cherry and oak and children’s aspirin in the aroma, although The Bride disagrees with me on that last one. Great flavor - tart cherry, oak, some winey notes, maybe a touch of coffee, but very refreshing and easy to drink. Great stuff. willblake (2180), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Dark brown, hazy, with a medium sized tan head that lasts throughout. Aroma is dark, roasty sourdough with some fresh herbal notes and cedar mulch. Soft, light, airy body is bright and refreshingly acidic. Flavors are lithe, doughy, tart, herbal, citrus, basil, fennel, apple must. One of my favorite session beers and a fair deal at eight bucks a bottle.
