darkguardian (195), Florida, USA Jul 6, 2008 22oz bottle from Knightly Spirits. Pours an awesome dark mahogany color with a densely packed long lasting beige head. Nose is awesomely sour and funky with hints of candied fruits and spice. Heavy nose, almost like an ABT. This beer is incredibly underated in my opinion. Very unique stout like flavors up front with toasted malts giving way to a spicy finish with light sourness. Very drinkably but the palate is very full. This beer is a marvel of design. Absolutely terrific. DA (2482), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Sep 19, 2007 Nose more like Cantillon, acidic, sour. Interesting roastiness darts in and out on the palate. Beautiful play between the sweetness of the earthy roastiness and the sour and acidic finish. Woody and faint cherry and cocoa flavors. I’ve been amazed by the JP beers so far, this one really stands out, my favorite so far. sebletitje (404), Tampa, Florida, USA May 23, 2008 Totally love this oaky taste, so similar to the Rodenbach Grand Cru. It takes some getting used to it, a beer that you learn to love and appreciate.
Batch 262/263, color dark amber, roasty and smoky.
Always amazed by their quality. ratman197 (2364), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jan 1, 2008 Bottle poured a clear dark copper with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of toffee, tobacco, berries, light oak, light spice and a hint of yeast. Palate was medium bodied smooth and slightly dry and tart. Flavors of leather, berries, light oak, light tobacco and a hint of spice with a smooth dry lightly tart finish. Taverner (482), San Ramon, California, USA Oct 11, 2008 I like this one. It is everything a famhouse should be - tart, just a little funky, ending on a dry note. This is all of that. It also has the added charcoal dryness from the darker malts. This works. Pours dark brown with off-white head. Aroma is light brett with some maltiness in the background. Flavor is tart, smoky and dry.
