| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Powerful, nice aroma with farmhouse ale qualities. Sour, citrusy smell features apple juice, lemon, and orange scents. Surprisingly, there is also a touch of smokiness in the aroma. Pours a sparkling, bright gold with an orange tint. Many bubbles. The liquid is mostly clear with a touch of haze. Large amount of fluffy, uneven, near-white head. Produces thick lacing. I came close to giving this a 5 for the appearance. Sour taste; more of a lemony, citrus sourness than a white wine or vinegar effect. Light Belgian-style candy sugar flavor. Subtle but complex taste. Some boozy dryness in the finish. Medium body. Soft, smooth, frothy, and lively in the palate. Easy to drink. Calabaza Blanca is quite enjoyable and better than I expected. I really liked this beer at first, but my enthusiasm gradually cooled as I drank it. bb (2919), Martinez, California, USA

Orange, yeast, brett, wheat flavors. Medium-light body - easy drinking. Lingering wheat, orange, and yeast. MrRain (431), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 28, 2008 Bottled, poured in a dimpled mug. The color of JPCB is a washed out light yellow. It has a large creamy head that doesn’t leave a lot of lacing. The aroma is tart with a hint of wood and cooked yellow hominey. This is a wonderfully refreshing beer with just the right amount of citrus tart balanced with a surprising smoothness. There is a lambic-like taste that makes me think of wild yeast. The finish is quick and dry. This is an excellent Jolly Pumpkin beer and one of my favorite wits. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 27, 2008 "Old" bottle with oval label: Tart, funky and very refreshing. There was tons of carbonation in this bottle. Even with age, this was not the most complex beer but it was very enjoyable due to the wonderful balance and freshness. idbowman82 (62), Painesville, Ohio, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 24, 2008 Meh. Nose and taste are the same...loads and loads of yeat, a bit of citrus and maybe some berry.
Refreshing enough but definitely something not worth trying again There are far better whites out there than this one. Juelze (904), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2008 Pours a clear yellow color with medium sized fluffy head that fades quickly. Aroma is all up in your face with the wild yeast. It’s to the point where that’s all I could smell, everything else took a backseat to this. Taste is interesting. I really have a hard time finding anything but the wild freakin’ yeast. Oh wait...found it. There is some light citrus and a bit of spice in the very fringes of the finish on this puppy. I’m surprised I didn’t have to puke some up to coat the tongue once more to see if there was anything else except wild yeast. Strange as it seems, take any JP beer, mix it up with some Lindeman’s Cuvee Rene, and toss in some orange peel and you got this. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad, it just disappoints me as I was expecting something really stellar with this one. Finish is quite dry and tart and carbonation is moderate. Again, it’s not bad, just not something I would pick up at $3.50 a bottle. Instead, I’d rather buy a 6 pack of Hoegaarden, somehow cause it to have a yeast infection and chase it with some Monistat 7. Prost! rustychiles (1055), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 20, 2008 Pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus and a little yeasty funk. Flavor of wheat and wild yeasts, a little funk, citrus, spices with lots of carbonation. Interesting brew. Jabswitch (211), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 10, 2008 Never had a tart witbier beer like this one before. Definitely a thirst quenching beer. Wouldn’t want to start drinking this on a hot summer day - I would down a six pack in no time and this isn’t cheap stuff. Some nice light spice in aroma and taste. Would I buy it again? Maybe, but there are other excellent Witbier’s just as tasty and at a more reasonable price.
