Bottle sample at Muckfest 2009 Day 2. Cloudy gold color with a huge white head. Lots of spice in the nose with some sweet malt and a bit of sourness. Tart flavor with spices, a bit of hop and a tart finish.

Bottle. Ap: Pours yellow with a white head. Ar: Citrus sourness, some spices and vanilla. Fla: CItrus sourness, small spiceiness. Ov: Really good and refreshing belgian wit. I enjoy the saison-like sourness. Miss some complexity and depth.

Bottle batch 382/383. Pours with a cloudy, glowing golden body and a creamy white head that leaves good lace. Really a good looking beer. Aroma of cracked pepper, star anise, grains of paradise, tart lemon, coriander and orange peel. Taste is initially bitter with orange peel up front and some tartness, but not nearly as strong as other Jolly Pumpkin beers can be. I think this is the lightest I have had. Super drinkable with a coriander finish. Medium carbonation that finishes dry. Nice summer beer, but not as good as some of the other JP masterpieces, which I will re-rate tomorrow night with m4rest88.

Pours hazy gold, thick rocky head. Aroma of hay, spices, banana, bubblegum? Nice understated flavor, with some spiciness and sourness at the end. Thinnish, not very carbonated despite the rocky head. Nice beer in one of my favorite styles.

On cask at RNH (Midtown, NYC): Pours a hazy yellow tone and the aroma is potent of orange/lemon citrus. Tastes like free green tea found at Japanese restaurants. Very smooth finish. Light on the tounge and easily drinkable. It’s okay- the uniqueness of this beer makes it memorable in a good way. #046 on 03072009, DG.

From a cask at Rattle’n’Hum. Cloudy pour. Unusually tangy and herbal flavor, almost like a cider or a kvas (or kwas, or kombucha, which I make at home btw) mixed with hefeweizen. It reminds me as much of a health drink or a tea as a wit beer. Flavor of sour lemon, smoke, and herbs. Like the other Jolly Pumpkins I have tried, it tastes handmade. An interesting change of pace brew.

Bottled. Cloudy golden. lactic nose. Sweetish and light bodied. Orange and vanilla withtart yeasty acidic flavours. Juicy and refreshing, surprisingly complex for a wit. Good and unusual.
