Smell is tart, funky, sour and wheaty. Taste is smooth and wheaty with a dry, tart finish. Lightly oaky and enjoyable. Smells funky, tart and tastes like a wit, though. Nice. daknole (2941), Plantation, Florida, USA

It has the typical funky, yeasty aroma of a JP beer. Flavor is a bit funky and a little tart, but not sour. Flavor is quite refreshing and has some underlying yeast, leather and wet earth flavors. Easy to drink. First JP beer I have had that I could drink 2 or more of in one sitting. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA

About as sit-back-and-drinkable as any beer. Excellent sour funk in every aspect of this brew. JPs are all starting to taste the same to me, but they’re still all pretty damn funky-awesome. dkachur (2375), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Of course the end of the bottle provides lots of yeasty particles. Great head retention and lacing. Very fruity and slightly funky aroma with notes of candied citrus, apple, pear, caramel. Taste is also very fruity with lemon, orange, cherry, spice and a slight tart funkiness. Smooth, slightly syrupy and full bodied. gotohelunc (473), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

Even with a slow pour, there’s as much head as there is beer, which slowly fades to a nice half inch of thick foam. Initially lightly cloudy, settles to mostly clear. Light straw color. Big yeasty smell, quite sour, some nice funk. This is definitely pushing the farmhouse flavors. Nice funkiness, and that same one of a kind taste that Jolly Pumpkin has. This tastes to me like "Jolly Pumpkin," meaning all their beers have the same underlying flavor, and with this one not as strong with the other malty or hoppy flavors, that house character shines. mullet (798), Melbourne, Australia
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 21, 2009 Wow, I finally see the attraction of this brewery! This was really tasty. Hazy lemon yellow liquid with puffy white foam. Pillowy wheatiness, but very dry with lots of delicious lemony, peppery brett. but in a very restrained way, and none of the weirdness and astringency some of their other beers have had. Very light-bodied but still quite firm. Tastes a lot like wheat, but none of the other classic witbier flavours at all - not that they are needed. Drank this out in the sun on a warm morning and it disappeared way too quickly. Very impressive stuff. (Also tried an Oro de Calabaza a while back which was a lot better than my old rating, but not as good as this.)
