Bomber bottle from Root Cellar. Pours a cloudy brown color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good sour fruit and woody aroma. Medium body. Medium sour hoppy flavor with a good solid balanced sour fruit finish of long duration. Another very interesting beer from this brewer.

Porus a dark maroon color with a fizzy beige head. Smell is fruity, tart, hoppy and perhaps almost a dry cherry scent. Taste is milder than the nose, is is lightly hoppy, a tad funky, a bit bitter and dry. Almost every Jolly Pumpkin beer leaves me wanting more flavor, and this was no exception. Not bad, but didn’t wow me.

Jun 29, 2008 Bottle (750ml) shared at ’Biegaman’s Second Annual Saison Tasting’ - courtesy of mds. Batch 267/268. Brick-amber colour with a slight haze. Aroma - awesome! Funk, hops, wood, quite dry. Flavour is tart and funky, followed by dry hops and earthy wood. Fantastic!

Jun 26, 2008 Hazy brown body with some copper at the edges. Topped by a khaki colored head. The aroma has lots of sweet apples and some funky wood. There is also a little bit of balsamic vinegar. The tase is largely dry wood followed by some grapefruit. There are also some tame apples to go with the wood. This gets worse as it warms.

Jun 25, 2008 750 ml bottle, batch 278. Pours a murky golden brown with a lively, rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is yeast funk, spices, pepper, wood and some slightly tart fruits.
The flavor is yeast, some tart fruits, with some grassy bitter hops and some almost cola flavors at the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with very lively sharp carbonation that becomes velvety as it sits.
Overall, a nice solid session beer.

Jun 23, 2008 From Mix Master Backus, get on the mic. Pours a very thick dark amber color that one cannot see through. The head is small but strong and everlasting. Aroma is a great blend; first a layer of bretty citrus and then beneath that very calm leafy hops. I loved the combo of house brett with non-aggressive hoppiness. Taste is slightly spiky hops which are quickly overtaken by brett, which then quickly dissipates. Oh I could keep on smelling this forever and just gullping it down.
