The aroma was grass, oak, lemons and spice. The flavor was smooth, funky, citrus and pumpkin. Overall, this wasn’t an overly pumpkin spice beer, just the way I like it. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Bottle (Batch 436/437) : The aroma consists of nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin, and a hint of lemony sourness. It pours a hazy, bordering on cloudy, orange with a quarter inch off-white head that fades to a thin foam surrounded by a slightly thicker ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with some very mild pumpkin flavors followed by some hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper. The finish has a nice light lemony tartness and just a hint of oak. I’d say it’s pretty much what you expect a JP beer to be with some light pumpkin and spices. ogglethorp (887), Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 4, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin off white head. Aroma is cinnamon, raw pumpkin, lomon zest. Flavor is pumpkin, cocoa, lemon zest, nutmeg, cinnamon, light oak. Palate is medium to light bodied, medium to light carbonation, tastes tart up front then finished quite smooth. Very nice, the pumpkin and spices are kept in check as you would expect from a JP beer. I liked this one quite a bit, different for a "Pumpkin beer", well done! egajdzis (3626), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 28, 2008 [Draft @ Capones] Poured a hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of brett, leather, toast, vanilla oak, horseblanket, citrus, and pumpkin. Taste of citrus fruits, peaches, vanilla, toffee, brett, and the signature Jolly Pumpkin yeast strain, with starchy pumpkin showing through in the very end. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Bottle at Sheffield’s. Pours a hazy, dirty brown. Nose is real pumpkin, a little funk. Devoid of spice (which is a good thing). There is a bit of wood and earth in the nose as well. On taste, a very pleasant and soft acidity that compliments the squash notes. Not overlly sweet and drinks quite well. Pretty nice one, this. DaSilky1 (1989), San Diego, California, USA

It pours hazy orange with a spotty ring of lather above. Lighter bodied yet funky with lactic twang and tartness dominating with subdued pumpkin somewhat hiding underneath...finish is a little flemmy yet funky..flavors are clean and tart. Pours copper with a tan head that faded pretty quick. Nose is sweet with big pumpkin and a lot of spice. Taste is sour and spiced and a nice bolt of pumpkin. Overall quite good and very different for a JP beer. Nice brew. DMRz (224), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Bottle from Rozi’s in Lakewood. Pours a medium to dark golden with a three finger white head. Somewhat sweet aroma with plain pumpkin puree, nutmeg, white apple, and some pleasant sourness. Flavour is very clean and refreshing, with more pumpkin, bready yeast, pear, and green apple. The finish is pumpkin pie spice. This is a very clean and composed brew that I found to be thoroughly enjoyable.
