Bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry and biegaman -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a small diminishing frothy off-white head. Very nice aroma of lightly sour fruit, some oak and light bourbon. Flavour of sour fruit, light oak, funky yeast, bourbon/vanilla and malt -- nicely balanced and the bourbon doesn’t overpower everything which is nice. Medium bodied. I really enjoyed this, this is bourbon barrel-aging done right!

Thanks to Mr Facto for sharing this at one of the Dark Lord Weekend tastings. Batch #1 handbottled. A thin fleeting head comes from this cloudy, deeply reddish amber brew. The Belgian "funky" aroma is there, along with lots of fruitiness. Tart flavor profile with a soild, underlying sweetness. Nice.

Light brown color...caramel smell and taste...sour finish. Better than the regular version but too sour for me

ON tap at Stone. Cloudy caramel color with no head. Sour aroma with good oaky motes and a caramel sweetness. Initial sourness transitioning to an oaky taste of caramel and vanilla with a semi-dry finish.

Sampled at the 1st annual Stone Sour Festival 2007. I didnt like this one very much. The alcohol came through really strong with a bitter bite in the end.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with biegaman and blankboy, my bottle. Cloudy amber-orange, smallish off-white frothy head, some black floaties. Sweet aroma, orange juice, oak resins, light bourbon/vanilla - pleasant. Taste - balanced, nicely sour and lightly funky, yeast, malt - hell, just good stuff. Average body, moderate sourness, juicy and easy to drink. Loved it - sessionable, to me.

12oz bottle bought at the brewery. I had the regular version earlier. The only difference I thought was there was a stronger presence of oak. Poured a warm brown-red. Spicy-sweet oaky smell. Flavor is tart, lots of oak, almost kind of a burnt flavor. The oak gives it a dry finish. I’ll rate it the same as the normal version.

Cask and Draft-2nd and 10th respectively of Stone 1st Annual Sour Festival, July 22nd 2007. Shared this cool day very mellow day with bikesandbeer, wetherel, westsidethreat, padrefan, fordest, denverlogan and many others. I had this both on cask and on draft. Both listed as select with a difference noted between the types of barrels used. Overall the cask was a bit disappointing--poured orange copper with a thin half finger tan head. Draft version had no head, and more of a ruddy orange color. The aroma was weak on the cask and more present on the draft. Taste was weird and more or less alcy on the cask, better draft overall. So this score I’ll associate with the draft version.
