Yeah, I found some old notes. Pours a hazy reddish- brown color with no head or lacing. Aroma is tart fruit and oak. Flavor is esters, wood, and flat out sourness. Finish was tart. Medium body. Again, Sours are not my style of beer, but I enjoy trying them. Thanks Paul. Rustyham (597), miami, Florida, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 1, 2009 Batch 48 ( 32 months in oak) thanks to Americanbrew. Pours with only a slight froth over a murky amber brown body. Vinous aroma fills the room at a distance. On closer inspection bourbon, oak, dark fruits, lactic, and acidic notes become apparent. There is a lot of depth here, tons of earthy notes, vanilla, caramel, cherry, rum cake, leather, fusel. Very complex! Taste is super dry, super acidic, and super tart. Tons of red wine and oaky bourbon notes in the incredibly long finish. Lemon, cherry. Very complex and with overpowering acidity.
Powerful vinegar and acidic mouthfeel, cranberry like acid and tartness. Very low carbonation, exceptionally dry.
Similar to the La Folie 750’s in style and sourness, but finishes drier and with less balance and complexity. JohnC (2288), Mission Viejo, California, USA

The bourbon barrel aging complements the sourness well. The taste is tart with some nice oakiness. TheEpeeist (1488), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA

Cloudy brown with a few incidental bubbles. Nose is cider vinegar, toffee and sour cherry. Very aromatic, like model glue. Medium light with bracing tartness and a mild buzz. Taste is raw cranberry, green plum and oak. Long dry finish with a pucker. More sour than i prefer. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 27, 2009 12/15/2007: Jolly Pumpkin La Roja Grand Reserve Special Oak Aged Blend is deep amber in color with a forthy light tan-colored head. It pours smoothly from the bottle. The arome is mellow and contains berry and a hint of the usual JP funkiness. This beer is a bit acidic and sweet with the halmark JP funkiness and must as well as some red wine characteristics. Overall this medium-bodied beer is very balanced and very smooth. Delicious!
