Commercial Description:
La Roja, an artisan amber ale brewed in the Flanders tradition. Deep amber with earthy caramel, spice and sour fruit notes developed through natural barrel aging. Unfiltered, unpasteurized and blended from barrels ranging in age between two and ten months. Truly an ale of distinction.

Extreme amount of carbonation. Really made a mess pouring when that was over, it was a really nice beer. Dark amber color. Spicy, fruity flavor. Mildly tart. Worth doing again

murky, muddy brown red, with a slight, wheaty color head. aromas of dark stone fruit, and a sour, vegetal earthiness. Slightly acidic-sourness is carried by the carbination to give a cherry and cranberry fruit note at the front. A tart oakiness comes right behind to start a biscuity dry finish, thou the sourness lingers.

Broke this one out to cap off a night of IPA tasting. Pours deep red with a big off-white head. Smells of sour cherries & banana, very fruity. Taste is similar with a dollop of caramel and some sourness. Nice light, refreshing mouthfeel. Pretty good.

Pours a cloudy amber-brown with a medium creamy off white head. Aroma is tart dark fruit, acidic-vinegary, woody yeast. Flavour is nice and tart,woody-spice aggressively carbonated, light sour cherry and vanilla. LIngering fruit tones.

750 into sniffer: "Blend #8, 2007." First thing first: I don’t know whether this was because of how JP bottles this batch, how Whole Foods stored it, or how I stored it, but when I opened this it exploded with foam and the foam literally kept pillowing out uncontrollably untill one third of the bottle had "blown off." This pissed me off very much. Anyways... on to the rating. Dark brown pour with reddish tint and a big white head. Doesn’t smell like much: notes of sour vinegar and some funky citrus deep down. The flavor is soft and subtle: sour vinegar with strange tangyness on the finish that is quite pleasant. I;m still new to sours and don;t really know how to explain whats going on with their flavors. However, I can explain that the flavor seemed to come on a bit late. It doesn’t linger too long either. The flavor is strange, but soft and unoffensive with no alcohol flavor. This brew is medium bodied and pretty smooth on the palate with a light tingly carbonation presence. Overall: this beer and its style are definitely unique and worth a try to anyone who wants a rounded and true beer experience.

Cloudy amber body with a soft white head - Sweet and malty, huge tart component of cherry and, maybe apple, and a sour wood hint. Yeasty with a noticeable spice presence. The caramel malt is really present in heavy doses - with an near-bready quality - especially on the finish, where is is soft and soothing. My first Jolly Pumpkin ale - truly a work of art - a superb and unique drink.
