afireinside96 (425), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2008 Broke this one out to cap off a night of IPA tasting. Pours deep red with a big off-white head. Smells of sour cherries & banana, very fruity. Taste is similar with a dollop of caramel and some sourness. Nice light, refreshing mouthfeel. Pretty good.
NomDeBeer (148), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Sep 3, 2008 Pours a hazy red with a huge off-white head. Smells of yeast, funk, a touch of alcohol, and citrus fruit. Lively, prickly carbonation. Flavor is sour fruit with some bitter, dough-like yeast. Feels a bit thin on the palate and the acidity is low for a sour ale. Overall, the flavor is mild and very drinkable. CelticBrew (469), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Sep 2, 2008 Compliments of doboy, along with DrBayern. Popped cherry, my first jolly pumpkin beer! Poured from 750 ml bottle a dark amber, very hazy forming a big head of foam that had big bubbles through out. Aroma of cranberries, tart fruits. Flavour was sweet, yet sour with tart fruit tones. This beer was fun to drink and experience! Miver (390), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 1, 2008 750 ml bottle. (The bottle was in my cellar for over a year.) Poured hazy gold in color with a quickly diminishing white fizzy head. Aroma of brett funk, tart and sour citrus. Tastes of light oak, brett, earthy, citrus fruit, tart, mild spices, and light acidity. Finish is nice and dry. DaSilky1 (1602), San Diego, California, USA Aug 31, 2008 brown beer with a thin sudsy halo of froth atop. nose was full of sour fruit, mostly apricot and a solid nail polish remover backing. flavors were sour but somewhat grainy with decomposing fruit notes, and a not so appealing watery texture with a somewhat grainy grapeskin astringency in the finish. in summary, tart and old fruit flavors with an astrigent ending,.. havent been too keen on jolly pumpkin but ill continue to look for one i like. doboy (67), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Aug 31, 2008 Pulled this one out for drbayern adn celticbrew after Uncle Steve headed for the barn. Sour ales are not my think, but this one was different. Poured a dark copper color with a fairly nice head. It started with a nice, fruity aroma. The fruity taste was almost wine like. It was just sour enough to dry out the taste and not pucker you for the rest of the day!
